Pinewood Elementary School
Four Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students are in the third round of winners from the 71st annual National Merit Scholarship Program, announced June 3 by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. They have won college- and university-sponsored awards between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.
The CMS winners are:
- Elizabeth Hammers, Myers Park High -- University of South Carolina scholarship
- Lucas Nazemzadeh, Myers Park High – Vanderbilt University scholarship
- Eleanor Rust, Myers Park High – Tulane University scholarship
- Tokugen Drake, Providence High – University of South Florida scholarship
Officials from each sponsoring institution selected their scholarship winners from among the 2026 program finalists who plan to attend their institution. An additional group of scholars will be announced in July.
